What Is Solo Leveling: Ragnarok?

Ragnarok is the official sequel to Solo Leveling, set years after the original ended. The protagonist is Sung Suho — the son of Sung Jinwoo and Cha Hae-In .

One detail matters for expectations: Ragnarok is not written by Chugong. The web novel is by Daul, working in the universe Chugong created. The manhwa adaptation is written by Dang Do and was illustrated by JIN of Redice Studio — the same studio behind the original series.

The premise inverts the original. Where Jinwoo started as the weakest hunter alive and clawed his way up, Suho is born into a world his father already reshaped — and has to work out what that inheritance actually means.

Is Solo Leveling: Ragnarok Cancelled?

No. This question circulates because the manhwa has been quiet for a long stretch, but nothing has been cancelled.

Here is what actually happened. Season 2 of the manhwa ended in early January 2026 after a short 20-chapter run. At that point the lead illustrator, JIN, announced he was leaving for mandatory military service — a two-year obligation that applies to most South Korean men.

JIN confirmed in his farewell note that a new artist had been selected to continue the series. Redice Studio has not announced when Season 3 begins.

When Will Chapter 69 Release?

No date has been announced, and anyone giving you one is guessing.

What we can say is what the pattern looks like. Redice Studio typically runs breaks of several months between seasons of its major series — Ragnarok’s first season ended in June 2025 and returned that November, roughly a five-month gap. This hiatus has already run longer than that, which is consistent with the artist transition rather than a quiet cancellation.

Where the Manhwa Stopped

The manhwa began serialising in 2024 and has released 68 chapters across two seasons. Season 1 covered Suho’s awakening and his first encounters with the world his father left behind. Season 2 ran only 20 chapters — roughly a third the length of the first — before the hiatus.

Because the novel is finished, readers who cannot wait have a complete version of the story available to them — the manhwa is adapting a known text, not being written alongside it.

Is Ragnarok Worth Reading?

Reception has been genuinely mixed, and it is worth being straight about that.

Reader sentiment runs roughly three-to-one positive, but the most common criticism is consistent: the writing does not match Chugong’s original. That is not surprising given it is a different author, and it is the standard complaint about sequels handed to new creators.

What Ragnarok does well is the art — Redice Studio’s action work remains among the best in the medium — and Suho himself, who is a more capable protagonist from the start than Jinwoo was, with a different set of problems.

If you loved the original for Jinwoo’s underdog climb, Ragnarok is a different experience. If you loved it for the world and the action, it delivers.
