The Manhwa Is Complete
The manhwa finished the main story at chapter 179, followed by 21 side-story chapters that contain the real resolution. Stopping at 179 leaves the story feeling unfinished — see our ending explainer for why the side stories matter.
The manhwa’s lead artist, DUBU (Jang Sung-rak) of Redice Studio, died in July 2022. The side stories were completed by Redice Studio after his death. His work defined how the entire franchise looks — the anime adapted his visual designs, not the novel’s descriptions.
The Anime Is Still Going
The anime has aired 25 episodes across two seasons, ending with the Jeju Island arc — roughly 60% of the story.
The next step is a theatrical film, Solo Leveling: Beyond the System, expected in 2027, followed by Season 3 in 2027–2028. Our Season 3 guide tracks both.
Our read
The anime is not in danger of being left unfinished. The source material is complete, a film and a third season are confirmed, and producers have reportedly mapped the story across as many as six seasons. The risk is time, not cancellation — the full adaptation will take years.
What About Ragnarok?
The sequel is split. Its web novel is complete; its manhwa paused in January 2026 when its illustrator left for mandatory military service, and a replacement artist has been confirmed. Our Ragnarok guide covers the details.
